couple finger tips reaching out to each other

If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own…

On getting help: “If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own… I’m always struck by people who think, ‘well, it must be because I was just so smart.’ There are a lot of smart people out there. ‘It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.’ Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help.” (Campaign Speech in Roanoke, 2012)

Today, our nation celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

One of the most iconic civil rights leaders and the voice of our generations, we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King the ideals he fought for continue to shape social justice movements decades after his death.

Dr. King cared about so much, liberty, and true freedom, equality, and most of all, democracy. This past year we witnessed some of the most restrictive voting laws and an all-out assault on voting rights. State legislators across the country practically rolled out the red carpet for voter suppression. And what has Congress done? Next to nothing.

Dr. King knew the power of our vote. He fought, marched, and was even killed for it. The only way we can truly honor his legacy is to ensure we never lose our vote.

The first purpose of comedy is to make people laugh. Anything deeper is…

The first purpose of comedy is to make people laugh. Anything deeper is a bonus. Some comedians want to make people laugh and make them think about socially relevant issues, but comedy, by the very nature of the word, is to make people laugh. If people aren’t laughing, it’s not comedy. It’s as simple as that.

“Thrill of Victory or Agony of Defeat”

What does “FIRE” mean to you, and how has it applied to your life?

When we think of The Fire most times we think of heat, flames, injury. What about the burning, yes, some of us know about the burn.

Those of us who get burned by  the “FIRE” inappropriately or by accident, I want to speak to you, ask yourself  if the message behind The Fire was misunderstood/ or not applied properly from the beginning?  Was its purpose missed ?Yes/No. The Fire can be used for our comfort in the beginning, but if left unsupervised, and uncontrolled it can become extremely harmful, dangerous and deadly.

The Fire can be your biggest fear or it can be your biggest strength hiding behind you. Who are you and how do you define The Fire’s within you?

Now there may be others who may approach the “FIRE” differently. Consciously, respectfully and mindful of its power! The Fire can be used as a tool for greatness, but always approached with caution. When utilized and viewed from this new view or perspective, it now changes its state from a fiery enemy to now a blazing friend. A tool to open up and bring out the new in you.
